Virtual reality is getting serious. That is, VR is not just about gaming and entertainment. In this EPAM blog post, we learn that it is being employed, in a serious way, in healthcare. Using VR as an element in the exposure-based treatment of anxiety disorders is one example. In another, VR acts as an effective, nonpharmacologic form of pain management, for those addicted to opioids. Fact is, VR in healthcare is projected to grow to $6.1 billion in 2025. Doesn’t get much more real than that.
