Online Travel Agencies, or OTAs, are now accepting payments in Bitcoin. Bitcoin! For a Marriott or Hilton, this is a significant development. Alternative payments draw customers away from hotel chains’ websites. The implications here are worth paying attention to, according to an insightful EPAM blog post: “A revolution in payments is long overdue for the hospitality industry, and while the incumbents are failing to seize the opportunity we can expect to see more innovation—and market share—switch to the thriving OTA market where alternative payments like bitcoin are not only accepted, but embraced.”
